Thales UK Airspace Mobility Solutions (AMS) are looking to recruit an experienced Software Engineer to join our growing team of experts based in Crawley dedicated to TopSky-ATC, the world’s most advanced air traffic control and automation solution. TopSky-ATC is widely appreciated product by Air Traffic Controllers with over 60 systems operational worldwide in more than 30 countries; it is a continually evolving product to comply with new standards as well as deliver to a growing customer base all over the world.

Software is at the heart of what we do and with a growing demand for the product we are now looking to reinforce the team. This poses an excellent opportunity to join a team with a solid order book and a desire to improve its ways of working, providing fantastic opportunities for future development and progression.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

Implementing new Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) on both the server services and the HMI
Fixing Problem Reports (PRs) reported internally or by the customer
Improving the software build process, the unit level testing process and the test plans in collaboration with the Integration team
Helping the Integration team understand how to solve problems via configuration
Estimating Enhancement Requests for prospective and existing customers
Generating releases and virtual machine images
Working in an AGILE, liaising with the SCRUM Master to ensure the software sprints are delivered on time and with the correct quality
Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Personal Qualities

This role would suit an individual that enjoys working in a collaborative and innovative environment, along with the following skills and attributes:

Knowledge and experience of at least one of the following programming languages- ADA/C/C++. In addition experience with Java would be beneficial.
A Team Player willing to help out the other disciplines (Hardware, Integration and Systems Engineering) where necessary
Experience with Linux, Jira, SVN, Git, Jenkins
Preferably experience in HMI work using Qt/C++ and X/Motif
Good level of self-organization and ability to manage multiple tasks at once
An understanding of requirements and configuration management, aeronautical Software and Hardware standard (e.g. DO-278) and Air Traffic Control would be ideal but not essential
