About the Team:

Finance in Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM) consists of circa 100 FTE and has a number of key rolesand strives for continuous improvement in all areas and aims for excellent customer service, supported by quality and efficient processes, all operating within a robust control environment.

About the Role:

  • Support the documentation of LSM’s technical accounting policies under USGAAP, UKGAAP, and other relevant national accounting standards
  • Evaluate the effects of new technical accounting policy changes on current processes and ensure impact is fully assessed and applied consistently across the statutory accounts
  • Document accounting policies memo for complex transactions
  • Prepare training materials and assist with the training
  • Keep up to date with changes in accounting standards; coordinating impact responses and recommendin appropriate course of action to achieve adherence to the new standards;
  • Plan and manage the year-end audit and the interim review with the regulatory team and deal with any queries from the Auditors
  • The role also has an emphasis on developing and improving the underlying processes and controls, in line with the policies and standards of the syndicate. The job holder must have a strong sense of accountability and ownership of work assigned

What the ideal candidate will have:

  • Qualified accountant with a working knowledge of UK GAAP and or IFRS (US GAAP would also be advantageous)
  • You must have worked in Insurance and have some experience in Regulatory accounting (including Solvency II regulation).
  • You should be comfortable communicating complex technical accounting requirements in a non complex way both verbally and in writing.
  • You should be intellectually curious, assertive when you form a view and have an insatiable desire to learn and articulate your view.
  • You should be able to work effectively as part of the wider finance team and have a service oriented attitude to delivering the business requirements.
  • High degree of skill using core MS Office product suite
